Old Settlers
Music Festival - April 19, 20, 21 - Central Texas' signature
music event featuring grammy winning Americana music. Acoustic jazz
and blues, bluegrass, old-time, local favorites and award-winning
artists from around the world. Family-friendly, Old Settlers encourages
children and adults to appreciate and preserve American roots music
by providing workshops, displays and activities. So bring an instrument,
a lawn chair, a tent and some sunglasses and join in the fun. Show

The Mocksville
Lions Club presents: The 9th annual Old-Time Fiddlers' &Bluegrass
Convention on Saturday, May 11th 2002 at the Clement Grove Picnic
Grounds (aka) Masonic PicnicGrounds at 201 Poplar St. off North
Main St. in Mocksville, NC. Registration for the bands and individual
competition from 12 noon - 6pm with competition starting at 6pm.
There will be workshops and Jam Sessions throughout the afternoon
before the competition starts. We will once again have the New Horizon
Competition with young students from the local music schools beginning
at 5pm. These competitors will come up on stage for the first time
to compete and win prizes. The Master of Ceremonies will be Danny
Jefferson. Cash Prizes and Ribbons of 5 places in each category
will be awarded to the winners.
The Categories are as follows: Best Old-Time Bands, Best Bluegrass
Bands, Best Fiddler's, Best Banjo's, Best Guitar's, Best Mandolin's,
Best Bass's, Best Dobro's, Most Promising Talent, Best Buck Dancers,
Best Vocals & Best Vocal Groups. Admission for Adults is $8.00
/ Children 6 - 12 $2.00 ander 6 Free. Food And Beverages will be
available but "NO" Coolers Allowed !!! Door
Prizes will be given away. there is plenty of seating in the arbor,
but for more comfortable seating, it is suggested to bring a lawn
chair. This event will be held "Rain or Shine". The proceeds
benefits the Lions Club Charities. For more information, you may

six states to compete for the prize monies and ribbons and in 2002
